Overview

The M.Ed. in Special Education, Specialty: Early Childhood Birth to Age 5 has a 30-credit, 10-course curriculum that addresses the developmental and learning needs of our youngest ages, birth to age 5. The program includes coverage of the unique needs of those with physical, sensory (e.g., deaf-blindness, cortical visual impairment, etc.), and multiple disabilities. The cohort structure is designed to be completed in 2.5 years of continuous part-time enrollment. Upon completion, students earn the M.Ed. from the University of Maryland.

The program is offered through the EdTerps Learning Academy, housed in the College of Education. The EdTerps Learning Academy provides flexible learning opportunities for working professionals in the field of Education, offering programs designed for career advancement while accommodating personal and professional responsibilities.
