The University of Maryland College Park offers the opportunity for current teachers to earn a Master's Degree in Middle Grades (4- 9th) Mathematics. In particular, we have a partnership with Montgomery County Public Schools that gives its teachers the possibility of getting tuition reimbursement.
Program candidates are prepared to become highly qualified middle grades mathematics teachers, fulfilling the mathematics education needs of students in urban settings. A 3-year master's program, candidates are required to complete 30 credits of coursework in mathematics, mathematics education, and teacher research.
This program is appropriate for teachers certified in elementary education, special education, or in ESOL who are teaching or plan to teach in subject matter classrooms in the middle grades (4th- 9th grade).
Coursework is offered at the Universities of Maryland at Shady Grove at a reduced rate.
