The University of Baltimore offers the M.A. in Integrated Design at the Universities at Shady Grove in a convenient, weekend format.

This master's program combines conceptual thinking, professional writing and graphic design while exploring both traditional and digital media.

The curriculum is based on direct research and consultation with professionals throughout the corporate and nonprofit sectors to best prepare students for careers spanning the communications field. Students come to the program from a wide variety of educational and professional backgrounds, and while many already have experience as writers or designers, it is not a requirement.

Those who are skilled in integrating professional writing and graphic design can easily pursue careers in a wide spectrum of disciplines: public relations, advertising, corporate publications, journalism, magazine editing and designing and more. HOW IS THE PROGRAM ORGANIZED?

The streamlined course requirements for this 36-credit program include a 6-credit, team-taught foundation class and courses that examine conceptual creativity, advanced writing, typography, Web development and various other aspects of communication that inform writing and design.

Students develop portfolios through a specifically dedicated course, work in teams to solve major real-world design problems and can pursue professional internships in every area of the communications field at businesses and organizations throughout the Baltimore-Washington area.

TUITION AND FINANCIAL AID

Students enrolled in this program are charged the same tuition as those attending the University of Baltimore, but may have differing fees based on home campus. Financial aid is available to students and is administered through UB. A limited number of scholarships are available.

UB is now offering in-state tuition to graduate students in Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia (Arlington, Loudon, Fairfax and Prince William counties and Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas and Manassas Park).
