USG ID CARD

If you are a full-time faculty member at the University of Maryland College Park and have an active UMD College Park ID card, you will not be required to get a USG ID card. However, you will still need to obtain your USG ID number to use while on this campus (the USG ID number can be gotten from the OIT office on the second floor in Building III or from the Student Center on the first floor of Building III).

If you are new to the University of Maryland and the Universities at Shady Grove, you will need to get your USG ID card. To do that:

  1. Please go to the Student Services office (Building III-1st floor; on your left hand side as you enter the building).
  2. Show your Driver’s License OR a State-issued ID.
  3. You will be taken inside to take a photo and to sign your card.
  4. The card is printed within few minutes after your photo and signature are taken.

All USG students, faculty, and staff are required to display an ID (your College Park ID would work) when accessing USG facilities.

  • You will need your ID to access the library, computer labs, photocopiers, printers, and other facilities.
  • You will not need your ID to access your classroom, but be prepared to show it to a security guard if you are asked.

If your classroom is locked when you arrive, you need to contact the Security Desk at x6065 from any house/USG phone, or you can go to the front desk in the main lobby and ask that they open your classroom.

PARKING

Changes to parking on Shady Grove campus were implemented in the 2016-2017 Academic Year. USG transitioned from a passive parking program to an active parking program. All full-time USG faculty, staff, students and visitors now pay for parking if they choose to park on campus.

If you are a full-time faculty member at the Universities at Shady Grove campus, you may purchase a semester or annual parking pass by registering online. You may also choose to pay for hourly parking, occasional parking or per-use parking, which do not require registration. For more information and/or to register, go to:
http://www.shadygrove.umd.edu/about/visit/parking.

If you are a part-time faculty member at the Universities at Shady Grove AND a full-time faculty member at the College Park campus (paying for parking there) , you are eligible for a parking credential at no charge under the current pilot-program. For that, you would need to:

  1. Contact BSIS Assistant Director, notifying you need access to USG parking for a particular academic semester;
  2. Visit the USG Transportation and Parking Services office on the first floor in Building II to pick up your parking pass (Note: you would be required to show your University ID). Their office hours are: Monday-Friday 9am to 4:30pm.

If you are a part-time faculty member at the Universities at Shady Grove AND a full-time faculty member at any other academic institution (other than University of Maryland College Park), you would need to purchase a semester or annual parking pass. Parking rates can be found here (NOTE: all part-time USG faculty are claSsified as Tier 1): https://www.shadygrove.umd.edu/about-usg/directions-transportation/parking/employee. You would need to:
