Carl started at The Universities at Shady Grove as Director of the Conference Center. Originally a one-person operation, the Conference Center grew into a 5 person operation under his leadership, hosting nearly 1000 events per year. In 2005, Carl expanded his responsibility to include Food Service in the very first "Green Grove Cafe" on the second floor of SG II. A very humble beginning to the Cafe, food was brought in every day from a local caterer and served. With the opening of the Camille Kendall Academic Center in 2007, Carl took on additional responsibilities in managing a full-time bookstore operation, vending and the Campus Recreation Center under the auspices of the newly created "Auxiliary Services" at USG.
Prior to coming to USG, Carl was Director of Customer Service for the Summer School and Continuing Education at the University of Maryland. Additionally, he's worked in program and event management for international non-profits since graduating from Towson University. While he has attended four different schools in the state of Maryland, he holds a BA in International Studies from Towson University and an MBA from Frostburg State University.
When he's not refereeing a flag football tournament on Goose-Neck Field, Carl is likely to be exploring new restaurants in the area, catching some concerts or traveling regionally.
