The 2017 State Employee and Retiree Wellness Plan has several important benefits to offer. First, it will help you and your enrolled spouse work with your medical providers to stay and/or get healthy. Second, it will help you save your money on healthcare costs. Third, it will help the State save money in the long term as it can focus all healthcare dollars on prevention. Please note that the surcharges for 2017 have been eliminated. This means NO ONE will be charged or penalized for not having completed the 2017 healthy activities. Participation in wellness activities is voluntary, but there are many advantages to doing so.

The following are the details for the 2017 State Employee and Retiree Wellness Program:

  •  Employees, non-Medicare eligible retirees and spouses who are enrolled in a medical plan are eligible to participate
  •  Anyone who completes the wellness activities for 2017 will have $0 copays for all Primary Care Provider (PCP) office visits
  •  Those who complete the wellness activities for 2017 can also receive a $5 reduction for their specialist copay until the end of the calendar year
  •  Employees and enrolled spouses may choose not to complete the healthy activities, however, lose out on free PCP and/or reduced specialist copays

2017 Wellness Activities

  •  If you haven't already, first select a PCP
  • Second, complete the online health risk assessment provided by your medical plan or the State health risk assessment
  • New for 2017! If you are due for any age or gender preventive screenings, and your doctor recommends it, you enjoy a $5 reduction in your specialist copays

Within 30-days of completing the first two activities you will be able to enjoy free PCP visits for the rest of the year. Keep in mind, the earlier in 2017 you complete the wellness activities, the sooner you enjoy free PCP copays and/or reduced specialist copays.
